Strong Starts Here: Celebrating Men’s Health Month

Men’s Health Month

June is all about raising awareness and promoting wellness for the men in your community. It’s the perfect time to provide education, encouragement, and activities that support a longer, healthier life.

 Promote Preventive Care

  • Encourage Annual Wellness Checks:
Remind male residents to schedule their annual check-ups. You can include this message in your newsletter, post flyers around the property, or even set up a sign-up station in the office to prompt action.

  • Provide a Men's Health Screening Guide:
Share a simple, easy-to-read tip sheet that outlines which health screenings are recommended at different ages (e.g., blood pressure, cholesterol, prostate, colonoscopy, diabetes, mental health).

  • Bring in a Local Expert:
Partner with a local clinic, hospital, or public health department to offer a Men’s Health Q&A Session. This could include a brief presentation followed by time for questions—topics could range from heart health and nutrition to stress and aging well.

 Make It Fun and Active

Let’s face it—sometimes guys need a little extra motivation to think about health. Hosting a friendly and social activity can help drive the message home.

Event Ideas:

  • Yard Olympics:
Set up a mini obstacle course, lawn games, or relay races. Include simple challenges like tire flips, wheelbarrow races, or even cornhole.

  • Step or Mileage Challenge:
Use fitness apps or a sign-up board in the office to encourage men to log their daily steps or miles walked. Offer small prizes or a raffle for participants.

  • Bootcamp Workout or Fitness Demo:
Hire a local trainer to lead a bootcamp-style workout outside. Keep it beginner-friendly and fun.

  • Healthy Cookout Demo:
Show them how to make healthy swaps on the grill—like lean proteins, veggie skewers, and low-sugar sauces.

Wear Blue Day – June 18th

Show your support for men’s health by encouraging everyone—men and women alike—to wear blue on Tuesday, June 18th.
Post signs in advance, decorate your office with blue balloons, and snap some group photos to share the awareness!

Bonus Ideas:

  • Create a Men’s Health Resource Table in your community center or office with pamphlets, tip sheets, and giveaways (like stress balls, resistance bands, or water bottles).

  • Host a "Talk About It" table or casual coffee hour just for the men on property to connect and chat about life, health, or hobbies.
