How to Create Stillness When Life Feels Loud
We live in a world where more information is available to us with a single click or swipe than at any other point in human history.
And yet, peace feels harder than ever to come by.
We are constantly surrounded by noise.
Opinions. Headlines. Notifications. Expectations.
When everything is loud, quiet can feel elusive. Stillness can feel almost impossible.
But stillness doesn’t require escaping the world.
It doesn’t require a retreat, a reset button, or a perfectly calm life.
Stillness begins with small, intentional pauses.
If you’re craving a little more peace right now, here are a few gentle ways to create stillness, even in the middle of a busy, noisy world.
Step Away from Your Phone
Set your phone down, or place it on Do Not Disturb, for at least ten minutes each day.
Go outside for a walk with no music, no calls, and no conversation.
Just you. Your breath. And the world as it is.
Unsubscribe and Unfollow with Intention
If certain accounts, news sources, or conversations consistently leave you feeling anxious, angry, or overwhelmed, it’s okay to let them go.
Protecting your peace isn’t avoidance, it’s discernment.
Create a Quiet-Time Rhythm
Stillness looks different for everyone.
For some, it’s prayer or reading scripture.
For others, it’s meditation, journaling, or breathing exercises.
Choose a practice that slows your body and quiets your mind, and return to it daily.
Morning works best for me, but what matters most is consistency, not timing.
Schedule “Do Nothing” Time
Block 15–30 minutes on your weekly calendar to do absolutely nothing productive.
No emails. No scrolling. No to-do lists.
Choose something that brings peace and supports your well-being.
Stillness doesn’t happen by accident.
It’s something we create on purpose, one small pause at a time.
